from Gordon Kreplin, M. Photog. – personal thoughts about photography and art:
“Photography has been a lifelong passion for me – from watching my Dad develop prints in the dark room when I was small, to photographing my travels in Europe when I was a student, to my present day work with families.
My goal is to create images that have a clear style, gracefulness and elegance. My first career as a concert guitarist provided the aesthetic tools for understanding color, composition and rhythm in visual art. For me, these are the essence of both music and photography and they are the foundation of storytelling. When I photograph clients it is imperative that their “story” is told in the imaging. That is, perhaps, why I enjoy photographing older couples more than young pretty models. Please don’t get me wrong, I enjoy beauty on all levels, but each face is a road map of a life lived and as a photographic artist, I feel it honors my clients to tell their story and not my own. I believe that God gives us all gifts to help build community through the presence of love and understanding. Photography happens to be the gift for which I am now responsible and my hope is that I can place it in the service of families to help build strong relationships.”

About the Photographer
North Carolina photographer Gordon Kreplin, M.Photog., is a recipient of the international 2009, 2011 and 2012 Photographer of the Year Awards by PPA. This significant photographic industry award is earned for excellence in imaging AND printing. You won’t find this level of expertise in any other Outer Banks photography studio – it sets us apart. Gordon is a member of Professional Photographers of America, Professional Photographers of North Carolina, Rotary International and the Outer Banks Chamber of Commerce, all subscribing to the highest ethical standards in photography and in business. Gordon attends annual educational seminars in the photographic arts to further refine his craft. His PPA Master Photographer Degree, four years in the making, was awarded officially in January 2012 in New Orleans.
