"Photographer Gordon Kreplin of Ascencion Photography in Kill Devil Hills, NC has earned a Gold Level Photographer of the Year Award from Professional Photographers of America (PPA).  He was honored at the PPA’s annual international convention, Imaging USA, on January 12th in Nashville, TN. 

A PPA member earns a Photographer of the Year Award by winning a merit for each of four images submitted for adjudication in the PPA International Print Competition – an incredible accomplishment.  All merited images enter PPA’s renowned General Collection.

'These awards are among the most prestigious in the industry,' confirms PPA Print Exhibition Committee Chairman Helen Yancy.  'The recipients of these awards have proven the quality of their work on a consistent basis in one of the highest quality image competitions in the world, PPA’s International Print Competition'."

Kreplin also won an award in the 2008 Professional Photographers of America International Print Competition. Of the 4,514 entries made world wide, his photography was chosen by a panel of 40 eminent photographers to be included in the PPA International Permanent Loan Collection. Only 60 photographers were chosen for this honor.

Sunrise Boat House, at left, was on display at the Phoenix Convention Center, January 11-13, 2009, in Phoenix, Ariz. The exhibition, which displayed the award winning photographs, was held in conjunction with Imaging USA, an annual convention of over 8,600 professional photographers and several photographic associations.
