Some questions asked most frequently by prospective clients, and our (we hope, helpful) answers.

Can I get a CD of the images? Yes! Image CDs are available as follows:

  • With our Premiere service, a CD of the images in your print order is a standard with certain print purchases.
  • With our Lite services, a CD of the images from your session is the package!  These are un-retouched, but may be upgraded.
  • Electronic albums of fully retouched files are available for purchase.

What is the special pricing available to Premiere clients?

Premiere clients plan or place their orders during their studio review session. If you order during the studio review, your $289 may be partly or wholly applied towards print purchases. For more information, call for details.

Can my family order prints online?

Yes! You can see session images online and order directly from your own web gallery, which will be posted after your studio review session (Premiere clients) or return home from vacation (Lite clients).

How long before the images are available?

Session images are usually available in 24 to 48 hours.

What is the best way to see my session?

In our studio! Reviewing the images on a 60 inch monitor with your photographer is a spectacular way to identify the images you love. This valuable service is included in your session fee. We can help you decide which images and styles of presentation will work best in your home. (Note: this service is not available to our “Lite” clients.) Call for more information!

Is a morning or an evening session better? Both are beautiful!  Choose morning or evening according to family makeup and dynamics.

Why are the sessions early morning and early evening, rather than during the day? Our session times give us the most beautiful light and give you the greatest comfort.

What if it rains? We have several excellent solutions; inclement weather doesn’t have to be a spoiler.

  • Change location! The Outer Banks is more than 100 miles long. Ugly weather in one spot does not mean ugly weather in another.
  • Change day and/or time! We simply watch the forecast and adjust the session day and time accordingly.
  • Do the session indoors! We bring all of our studio lighting and do a gorgeous magazine spread of your family in your beach cottage.

Where do sessions take place and what if I am not staying on the ocean? For Premiere clients, we come to your Outer Banks home or meet at one of quite a few conveniently located scenic public spots we know and love for family portraits.  For Lite clients, we meet you at a pre-arranged scenic public spot.

What should we wear? After you book your appointment, we will consult with you about dress and provide lots of helpful guidance about preparing for your family’s beach portrait.

What does it mean to hold a PPA Master Photographer degree and what is PPA? Quoted from the Professional Photographers of American (PPA) website: ” … Professional Photographers of America (PPA) is the world’s largest nonprofit association for professional photographers, with 24,000 members in 54 countries.” PPA’s stated mission – “Creating a vibrant community of successful professional photographers by providing education, resources and industry standards of excellence.” The significance of the PPA Degree Program – “Photography is not a static industry; new techniques and technologies always appear. The actions photographers take to earn PPA degrees help keep them abreast of the changes. If a photographer has reached this status point in the photographic industry—the receipt of a PPA degree—he or she has pushed beyond the norm.” To learn more, visit the PPA website.

Can I bring my camera to the session? Definitely not. Cameras other than the photographer’s lessen the value of the photo session. Our photographer has invested years learning the art and science of photography. Taking photographs of his setups over his shoulder just isn’t respectful. Pulling family members off to the side for snapshots during a session ultimately wears them out and adversely affects the professional portraits. We reserve the right to end a session early and without refund if a client does not respect this requirement. Please, protect your investment!
